No Agenda-Just Friendship FIM is a gathering of born-again ministers who regularly meet for encouragement and fellowship around the name of Jesus. It is important for the leadership of the Body of Christ to seek to fellowship and work together. The Bible tells us not to hide from one another, jealously guarding what the Lord is seeking to do in our part of the vineyard, ‘But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today.’ (Heb 3:13) God created man to need his fellows, and this is clearly seen in the work of the Lord, where those in leadership are under constant attack from the enemy: ‘Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.’ (Ecc 4:9-10) This clearly tells us that our work is more effective if we work together, and that we need each other in the tough times. The purpose of Friends In Ministry is to help advance the Kingdom of God, and not to promote any individual ministry. This can be achieved as we seek to encourage, and even challenge each other to be more effective as we seek to share the tools God has given us to win the lost: ‘Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.’ (Prov 27:17) The unconditional love of God shed abroad in all our hearts causes us to provoke one another to a greater effectiveness in the Kingdom: ‘And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.’ (Heb 10:24-25) As the last days draw to a close, it is more important to focus on accomplishing the will of God than individual agendas. We are Co Labourers The days of “every man for himself” are over, and the leadership of the body of Christ is recognising the need for unity, fellowship and partnership in order to get the job done with the greatest efficiency and effectiveness. We are co-labourers in Christ, strengthening each other, loving and caring for each other, and provoking each other to fulfill the potential of Christ inside us. Friends in Ministry is NOT a denomination. The ministries that participate come from the full spectrum of denominational and non-denominational churches, whose central message is salvation through faith in Christ. Neither does it seek to impose any system of doctrine, or demand an adherence to a set of preconditions. There is no formal membership and no subscription fees. ‘Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy.’ (II Cor 1:24) FIM aims to support the local church by hosting ministries to regular times of fellowship where they can be encouraged and refreshed, and by offering a network through which ideas and resources can be shared. The gathering together of the leadership of the body of Christ: • Strengthens those feeling isolated by offering support, friendship and encouragement. Many have shared how they felt the burden of loneliness and spiritual hardship lift through the comfort and prayer of their fellow ministers. • Encourages the overall vision by showing how the Lord is moving all over the land. Individual ministries are able to share what they are doing, how the Lord is using them, and what they have accomplished in their local area. • Gives an opportunity to forge new friendships and make divine connections. Relationships are very important in the body of Christ, and these meetings allow people to meet those they would not otherwise have the opportunity of coming into contact with. Divine appointments arising out of these meetings have proven very beneficial for some of the ministries that have attended. • Allows for the sharing of ideas and resources with the body of Christ in the land, enabling effective tools to be placed in the hands of the church at large, instead of being limited to a small number. In this way advances made in technology, harnessed by ministries with available resources, can be made available to ministries that would otherwise be limited in this respect. • Promotes unity, allowing us to accept one another because of the finished work of Calvary, and worship side by side, instead of competing with one another. A kingdom divided cannot stand, but where there is unity the anointing of God can flow. Unity in the leadership will promote unity in the body, and will allow the Holy Spirit to flow freely through a church whose only agenda is achieving the Great Commission. |
